Raley's confirmed plans to close four stores, three in California and one in Nevada, bringing the company's total planned closures to seven in 2026 and early 2027. The stores scheduled to close are in Elko, Los Gatos, Brentwood, and Petaluma. Earlier closures affected stores in Mountain View, Roseville, and Antioch. Raley's attributed the decisions to local market conditions and a lack of long-term financial sustainability, while also planning a new store in Madera, Calif., in March 2027.
Why this matters: Closures may reduce grocery options in the affected communities and create new food-access gaps. Independent grocers and local food-access groups can monitor whether displaced shoppers need alternative stores or other support.
