Uber Eats added more than 375 Wakefern Food Corp. supermarkets to its grocery delivery platform. Customers across the Northeast can order from eight grocery chains, including ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, Fairway Market, The Fresh Grocer, Morton Williams, Dearborn Market, Di Bruno Bros. and Gourmet Garage. Orders can include produce, meat, seafood, pantry items, prepared foods and household goods for immediate or scheduled delivery. Uber Eats is offering discounts of up to 30% off first orders from participating Wakefern stores, while Uber One members receive free delivery on eligible orders.

Why this matters: The partnership gives Wakefern member stores, many of which are family owned and operated, another channel to reach customers. Independent grocers and cooperatives may see delivery platforms as an additional way to serve shoppers who want home delivery.
