H-E-B visits rose over six times faster year-over-year between January and August than visits to grocers overall, according to Placer.ai. The research linked the growth to H-E-B's store expansion, especially in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and to strong shopper engagement. H-E-B customers stay longer and are more than twice as likely as overall grocery shoppers to visit more than four times a month. The chain purchased land for a store serving southwest Fort Worth and opened its third store in San Marcos.

Why this matters: Independent grocers in Texas may face stronger competition for shopper visits as H-E-B expands and retains frequent customers. The findings also point to store amenities, local assortments, and community ties as factors that can support customer loyalty.
