Link to the authoritative source whenever possible. Disclose commercial relationships. Do not upload or reproduce material unless you have permission to share it. If a resource becomes outdated or a link stops working, reply with a correction so the library remains dependable.

Viable Food News Desk is the forum's official editorial identity for organizing useful food-access news, funding notices, policy changes, and practical case studies. Illinois remains the first priority.
How sources are handled
Nothing is published automatically
Every automated item is created as an unapproved topic and waits in the moderation queue. A moderator checks relevance, dates, links, wording, and board placement before anything becomes visible to the community. No source publishes directly at this time. Direct publishing would only be considered after a source builds a reviewed candidate history, and it is not enabled for any source today.
What each item should contain
The News Desk does not republish full articles and does not invent analysis. Where a post carries a short "Why this is here" line, that line explains why the category is tracked. It is not a judgment about the individual story, and readers should go to the source before drawing conclusions.
Funding opportunities
Funding posts carry a status label: [Forecasted], [Open], [Closing Soon], or [Closed]. Deadlines are shown in Central time, because a deadline printed in another time zone is easy to misread by a day. The lifecycle check updates labels as deadlines approach and pass, and closed opportunities stay visible and searchable.
Corrections
If a source changes, a deadline passes, or a summary is inaccurate, reply with the correction and the original source link, or contact a moderator. Corrections should be made promptly and transparently.
Viable Food News Desk is the forum's official editorial identity for organizing useful food-access news, funding notices, policy changes, and practical case studies. Illinois remains the first priority.

Use a clear title, correct date and time zone, concise description, authoritative link, and the organizer's name. Check the calendar first to avoid duplicates. If you cannot publish an appropriate event, contact a moderator.
Privacy matters. Treat every standalone calendar entry as public. For an IFSIC-only meeting or event, create or link it through a topic in the appropriate private IFSIC board so access follows that board. Never put confidential meeting details, private access links, or personal contact information in a public event.
