DoorDash says customers using Ask DoorDash are placing orders with 50% higher grocery basket sizes, checking out five times faster, and buying 60% more unique SKUs than customers not using the technology. Andy Fang said the trends have grown since Ask DoorDash launched in June. The tool lets shoppers build carts with conversational prompts or by uploading a photo of a recipe list. DoorDash also added Costco to its marketplace and supports SNAP EBT payments at more than 75,000 stores.

Why this matters: Independent grocers using delivery marketplaces may need accurate product catalogs and inventory information to support AI-assisted shopping. The reported basket and product-discovery gains could affect how stores present products and manage availability online.
