PCC Community Markets plans to open its 17th location on Oct. 14 in Seattle's Madison Valley neighborhood. The store will employ about 75 people and offer locally grown organic produce, Pacific Northwest seasonal products, bulk goods, on-site sushi, private label goods, deli meals, and pizza made with flour from Cairnspring Mills. PCC said the location will also sell ethically raised seafood and meat, along with grab-and-go choices. The co-op had income from operations of nearly $1 million in 2025, compared with an operating loss of almost $250,000 in 2022.

Why this matters: The opening would add another grocery option in Madison Valley, with local and regional products plus prepared food. It also shows how a grocery co-op can pair expansion with improved operating results.
