The Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee failed to report Chairman John Boozman's proposed "Farm Bill 2.0" on August 6, 2026. The main dispute involved SNAP changes in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act of 2025, including increased paperwork and other barriers to assistance. The Congressional Budget Office projected that the changes would reduce SNAP spending by nearly $200 billion over 10 years. In 2025, SNAP provided an average of $188.33 per person per month to more than 42.4 million Americans each month.
